Today the Associated Press revealed that the Justice Department illegally obtained two months of phone records from Associated Press reporters and editors across the various agency offices. From the AP story:
The Justice Department secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters and editors for The Associated Press in what the news cooperative’s top executive called a “massive and unprecedented intrusion” into how news organizations gather the news.
During the implementation of the Patriot Act the opponents justified their disapproval for this sweeping government power by citing the future potential of abuse in federal agencies having the ability to obtain information that should remain private; information that the government could still obtain through the proper channels (i.e. warrants, subpoenas, etc.). Since the Patriot Act has been in full swing there has been remarkably little abuse of this power. Or maybe I am just the optimist. I had expected intrusions on a regular basis, especially with news groups attempting to protect confidential sources.
Naturally, the administration that thinks government has the power to take over whole industries would have no problem over-stepping the legal boundaries surrounding the first amendment and the protection it offers everyone. The only part that surprises me is that no matter how friendly you are to this administration they always regard you as a potential enemy. Think of how cooperative the AP has been with this administration. Yet they still regard them as an adversary. Can you imagine having to live like that? You even have to be ready to take down your friends.
AP Letter to Eric Holder
While everyone will write their own report on this story and add in their own two cents (like I did above), most wont publish the letter form the AP to Holder. They would rather just drive traffic to their site and give you the opinion they think you should have. Clicking the image will take you to the full letter via our DocStoc account. In Bryn Mawr, PA two women have been indicted for running an “after-hours” dentists office that operated unlicensed. The duo offered services to the uninsured for the most difficult to master procedures in the dental profession (i.e. root canals, pulling teeth, etc). Reading the article it is almost defamatory of the two. Calling them “crooked” and “fake” should border on libel. After all, the requirements to be licensed for this work is a fairly new regulation. These are the procedures that use to be performed by barbers. Now, I admit a few parts are humorous (in a darker respect) but…
A grand jury report alleges 45-year-old dental assistant Cheryl Laing and 24-year-old receptionist Jessica Gullickson used the Bryn Mawr dental practice where they worked to provide low-cost services to uninsured patients.
The licensing process is different from the training and the education…naturally. The former is part of a financial racket for state government. The latter, training and education, is important for consumer safety. But being licensed only absolves the consumer of the responsibility of due diligence. Imagine just for a moment that there was no regulation on dentistry. As a consumer, before you let anyone operate on you wouldn’t you start to ask questions? Like where was the person trained or educated, or how long they have been in the practice. Or maybe they came highly recommended from a few people you trust immensely. The choice to vet them and to what degree is your responsibility. Also, the choice to have an unlicensed and possibly total rookie in the field service me should also be my choice. Look at the trouble it causes because we are not free to choose.
I pay cash for my dentistry and have for many years. Currently I have a small cavity (my second one in my life) and I have negotiated the price down between two different offices. Most of that cost is administrative and part of their price quote comes from the fact that they really have no idea what to charge for their labor; they only know how much they bill insurance companies. But that is not the correct value of any procedure. It is an inflated cost at best. Tack on all of the measures they had to take (and remain) licensed and meet state regulations and I wind up with a quote for about $150. Now, I would never go to a backroom after-hours dental practice like the one listed above no matter how cheap it was. But I have no right to stop anyone else from obtaining those services. And since barbers use to do this work (and also require licensing) look at how ridiculous this has become. Now, every thing that a barber or hair stylist did in the past requires licensing. Braiding hair? Go ahead and risk it without a license. I look at old school photographs and the mothers who braided their girls hair daily could now generate windfall profit for a state if they clamped down. Maybe I shouldn’t give the state governments any ideas
DISCLAIMER:This is for research and teaching purposes only. I am not making any claim or accusation that this person is involved in the despicable acts that Kos contributors have partaken in over the past year. This is strictly an example of how to use a personal blog to lift the veil of anonymity.
When someone creates an online persona starting with the intention of remaining anonymity it usually isnt a big deal. However, when they are politically motivated they are usually doing this for the purpose of starting shit and harassing people. So here is a quick tutorial on how to use the smallest clues to unmask some of these losers. Ive chosen someone who calls themselves “Anonymiss”.
If you have noticed the “anonymiss” tag has slimed its way over to Daily Kos some time ago. Now we know the group has more than one member but for all intents and purposes we will focus on just one. Anonymiss in DC seems like a good place to start and that is what we will use for an example. So in a few easy steps I’ll show you how this is done
1) The first thing we see in the side bar is that she is a Daily Kos fan. Great, we’re on the right track. Plus her blog postings include her adventures of going to see the inauguration of Obama and random light slams against those who are not liberals. Moving on…
2) Dont bother starting at the most recent entries. Go to the earliest. This is something that I learned from my homegirl Mandy Nagy (aka Liberty Chick). Start at the beginning and work your way forward. It gives you a great picture of who you are dealing with and the chances of missing an important detail is greatly reduced. So, lets go to the first month of the blogging, December 2008 entitled“Wrong Number, Anyone?”; this is where we learn her identity and is chock full of clues. Ok, see picture below, this is where you should be.
3) In this post she is aggravated because she has received two voice-mails from people that are complaining about the biased news coverage. She makes it a point to stress that she is not in the news business. As she states, “Keep in mind that my work has NOTHING to do with the Middle East. At all. Zip. Zero. Nor am I a reporter.” One person complains about the covering of the ongoing conflict with the Palestinians. The second is a larger clue. So lets take her own words again.
“Fortunately, the next message happens to be from a much more rational guy from some newspaper in Pennsylvania who was wondering if I could help him get some more information about an article “I” ran on the Treasury.”
Now we know that there is an article in December 2008 that has a byline (author’s name) on it that is either the exact same name as hers or at least close enough to mistake her for the author. Do you see how easy this is yet? She then confirms that the callers that found their way to her voice mail were actually looking for the Associated Press.
“And then I call the Associated Press, who tells me that they’re really sorry, but people must be misdialing my number, which is similar to the number for the Business Desk.”
And then again she confirms it. She returns the call to one gentleman and tells him:
“I manage to say ‘Hi, I just wanted to let you know that you called and left me a message about an Associated Press article yesterday but you had the wrong number.'”
4) She has given us everything. Finding out her name now couldn’t be easier. At this point you swing over to Google and look for Associated Press articles from December 2008 with a female author. You will find the article on the Palestinian conflict as well as the article on the Treasury. Go ahead and check, I’ll wait. Ok are you back? Got the name? Great, now enter that name into Google and see if there is another person with the same name in Washington D.C. Well I’ll be damned, there are only two people in the country with this name and yes, one is actually in DC while the AP writer just has a DC number.
Great Job! You just unmasked an “Anonymiss” No hacking needed. Now you know her name and where she works. You used information that she freely provided. Bonus: Afterwards you can check out their friends and see what they are saying. Heyyyy, wait a minute, they actually tweeted a picture of her with the caption? “Not so anonymous now are ya?” Yes they did.
PS-if that blog posting goes away it is in the Freeze Page Data Base and can be viewed HERE
END NOTE REGARDING THE REAL ANONYMOUS AND ANONYMISS: I am not targeting any real member of Anon or an of those who are the real Anonymiss. I am targeting the political hacks, the paid political operatives, who were such cowards that they decided to use illegal means to intimidate their political opponents and used YOUR good name to hide behind. I am talking about people like Neal Rauhauser of Progressive PST. New fags were the cancer that was killing /b. Rauhauser is just one example of the poison that is killing ANON. Ask him yourself and he’ll just attempt to Triforce so he can prove that he is a legit. The Anonymiss of the Daily Kos are not legit; Ditto on the other ANONS teamed up with Daily Kos. The sharp anons are picked up on his fake profiles and his lame attempts to co-opt Anon and labeled him as COINTELPRO and called him out. Congrats, you were spot on.
On March 26 of this year we reported on Al Qaeda stealing surface to air missiles (SAM’s) from munitions depots in Libya. Moammar Gaddafi in an act of desperation opened up munitions depots. His intention was to let his supporters arm themselves. Instead Al-Qaeda Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) ended up acquiring everything from shoulder-fire man portable units to old Soviet SCUDS. From our March 26th report (“When did Officials know? Al Qaeda Steals Libyan Missiles”):
“Someone is not being totally honest. On March 25, 2011 AFP (via Breitbart.com) reported a story of Justice Secretary Ken Clarke warning of another Lockerbie style attack. This was a very specific warning considering the broad scope of possible threats to civilians. Thats because Clarke and other officials had already received the report of Al-Qaeda stealing nearly 100 Surface to Air Missiles from Libyan munition dumps.”
The day after we began to investigate the claims leaders in Niger and Chad had tried to alert the press of the theft; also included in our report in the above links. They were ignored. For the past 5 months the media largely ignored all claims of SAM thefts. But now that the turmoil has settled down the confirmation of the missing missiles is now coming to light.
Also in our March report the main concern was the current No-Fly zone imposed by NATO. This tactic would push commercial airliners away from central north Africa. In doing so the north shores would have a much more crowded airspace with more planes. All of which would become easy targets for any radical with a shiny new SAM. The revamping of Sudanese Air Traffic Control addressed these concerns; something we referenced in our initial report. In the reports below we finally see the news agencies addressing this issue as a plausible threat and serious concern; 5 months later. The main stream media has seen the tarnishing and fine patine of the Arab Spring materialize. Now the news is about the dangerous results produced. The hope of freedom and democracy is barely visible under the quickly corroding surface of the Arab Spring.
Breaking News!! (Not Really) The press starts to investigate claims
CNN finally dispatched reporters to cover this lead just 5 months after the original story broke (as referenced above). In the report CNN innacurately cites the number of Libyan SAM’s to be at least 20,000 units. While this is fairly close the real number of working units is more in the range of 12-14 thousand units. CNN also adds that figure in for a little bit of sensationalism. The entire stockpile has not fallen into the hands of Al Qaeda (AQIM). The current figure from on the ground intel operatives is approximately 19 units. Click Image for Video and full report
No Evidence of Missing Missiles-But Black Market “Prices Dropping“. Uhhh What?
Strictly Right Radio Co-Host Ben Swenson brought this to my attention. Swenson was the first one that I called in March after meeting with my internal investigative team. On Aug. 25 The Associated Press reported the State Department position that chemical and nuclear material in Libya were secure. Fine. Nukes were not the issue here. After all, Al Qaeda doesnt own haz-mat radiation rated suits so they cant handle the material anyways. The main question at hand was; have Islamic Fundementalists obtained any sophisticated weapons? From the AP report regarding missiles and rockets:
The fate of thousands of rockets is less clear, and other U.S. intelligence officials and counterterrorism experts criticized slow work by State Department to locate and buy back dangerous munitions like the estimated 15,000 to 25,000 shoulder-fired missiles in Gadhafi’s weapons stores.
Two U.S. officials said the prices of such missiles in the region have fallen, suggesting that some of Gadhafi’s weapons may already be reaching the market, though there is no sign that al-Qaida-linked terrorists have managed to buy any.
That was August 25 2011. Do you see how fast things change in the Intelligence community? Compare this report to the CNN one from today. The AP report from August was leaning towards the reality that as long as the nuke material was ok most of the other weapons probably fell under the same status. The State Department echoed this sentiment days later in the daily press briefing. This will be addressed in the next post. I cant give all the good stuff away now 🙂 This barely scratches the surface
