Energy Dept Announces New Regulations for Dishwashers and Washing Machines

Today the Department of Energy announced new regulations for dishwashers and clothes washers (washing machines). From the press release:

Wait, lets check out the contradiction in bold print that appears in the press release verbatim below

As part of the Obama Administration’s focus on taking sensible steps to save families money while also reducing energy consumption, the Department of Energy today announced common-sense energy efficiency standards for residential clothes washers and dishwashers that will save consumers $20 billion in energy and water costs. The new standards for both clothes washers and dishwashers were informed by important feedback from manufacturers, consumer groups, and environmental advocates, producing significant savings while retaining consumer choice. The clothes washers standard announced today will save households approximately $350 over the lifetime of the appliance, while offering consumers a variety of more efficient machine choices

*So which one is it? will they be “reatining consumer choice” or “offering consumers a variety of more efficient machine choices”?

**Also does anyone proofread their press releases before they submit them to the public?

In order to make the announcement bearable to the regular consumer they must include the qualifiers that these decisions were made by consulting consumer groups, manufacturers, and environmental advocates. But in reality what happened was the consumer groups’ ideas and feedback are irrelevant. And the manufacturers already know that whatever Secretary Chu’s band of scary wanksters come up with in conjunction with the “environmental advocates” will become law/regulation no matter what.

So there you go folks. Energy Star just wasn’t enough. They must go farther. And somehow they are going retain consumer choice, and offer a variety of more efficient machines, by dictating to manufacturers what they will be allowed to produce.

This is just more of the same from the Obama Administration. It all boils down to Obama’s war on America’s traditional values, American’s patriotic and capitalist society. In short, Obama hates America.

  Heres what I dont get…Why does “T. Partiblaus” find it necessary to be anonymous to leave a comment like that? I mean its typical in its tactic of 1) getting away from the topic and 2) being ridiculous and 3) clearly shows that it is an emotional response. Firstly, there is no evidence that these measures are “saving the environment” or even have any positive impact on the environment at all. Next, the manufacturers of appliances have always had the incentive to create energy saving products becausde energy costs money.
  
  Long before the “Energy Star” program, the industry was well on its way (and making incredible improvements year after year) in saving consumers money through reduced energy consumption. Matter of fact, the Energy Star program was really a combo of armchair quarterbacking and a day late, dollar short…actions that the government excels at. They came in and started the program after the industry was already kicking ass in the energy consumption category and then took all the credit. Right now, we have tons of choices of appliances that are considered energy lightweights and environmentally and wallet friendly. So why are we reducing choices? Because government actions can only reduce choices. But “Partiblaus” should be happy. When the manufacturers stop making certain models they will probably lay some people off. And then we can really start saving the environment because those folks will reduce their carbon footprint because they wont be driving to work every day!! They also wont be going out on the town because they have no money. What a great grand plan!!! Hell, those former workers can now do their laundry by hand and really save the environment; since they wont be able to afford their electricity bill either! WooHoo!! We are almost there…utopia here we come!!
  
  So, “T. Partiblaus” who, ironically, is from CT just like me, has shown us that they know nothing about the topic and can only react emotionally. And since they lack confidence they cant possibly put their real name on a response like that. But do you blame them? I certainly dont.
